Guardian Ad Litem
PARENT FACILITATION
Protecting the Best Interests of Children Through Objective, Child-Centered Advocacy
When families are involved in complex legal matters, children deserve a voice that is focused solely on their well-being. At Trauma and The Art of Healing PLLC, our Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) services provide the Court with clear, objective, and clinically informed recommendations that prioritize the best interests of the child.
Working collaboratively with the Court, attorneys, parents, and other professionals, we strive to ensure that every decision supports the child’s emotional, developmental, and long-term well-being.
What Is a Guardian Ad Litem?
A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is a neutral professional appointed by the Court to represent the best interests of a child during legal proceedings involving family conflict. Unlike an attorney who represents a parent’s legal position, or a therapist who provides treatment, a Guardian Ad Litem serves as an independent advocate for the child by gathering information, evaluating family dynamics, and making recommendations to the Court.
The role is not to determine who “wins” a case or to advocate for one parent over another. Instead, the Guardian Ad Litem remains focused on understanding the child’s needs and ensuring those needs remain at the center of every recommendation.
What's Our Approach?
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with extensive experience working with children, families, trauma, and high-conflict family systems, Sandy Price brings a unique clinical perspective to every Guardian Ad Litem appointment.
Rather than viewing issues in isolation, our approach examines the child within the context of the entire family system. We carefully assess the relationships, communication patterns, emotional functioning, and environmental factors that may influence the child’s safety, stability, and overall development.
Individual Interviews
Meetings with parents, caregivers, and children (when developmentally appropriate)
Family Dynamics Assessment
Observation of parent-child interactions
Review of Important Documents
We review court documents, medical records, school records, and other relevant information
Child-Focused Observations
Assessment of family dynamics, trauma history, and developmental needs
Every recommendation is based on objective findings, professional judgment, and the child’s best interests.
