Identifying depression in Teens
What is depression?
Depression is one of the most common and very serious mental health condition.
Depression includes feelings of extreme sadness, loss of interest in things you love, overwhelming feelings of despair, and worthlessness. A teen with depression will be affected in the way they think, feel and behave. Depression can also cause emotional, functional, and physical problems.
Some symptoms of Depression to look out for with your Teen:
Feelings of hopelessness
Describing themselves as Empty
Irritable or annoyed mood
Loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities
Low Self- esteem
Frequent thoughts of death, dying, or suicide
Tiredness and loss of energy
Insomnia or sleeping too much
Changes in appetite
Use of alcohol or drugs
Social Isolation
