Our Approach
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold and honors the artifact’s unique history by emphasizing, not hiding, the breaks and cracks.
Why is this art important for us as human beings?
As a trauma therapist, I use Kintsugi as a metaphor for healing the therapy setting.
By healing ourselves and embracing our own blemishes, scars, flaws, and imperfections, we can create something that is even more unique, resilient, and beautiful.
We collaboratively work with each one of my clients to meet their specific needs through a systemic lens. We understand that your experiences may be difficult to acknowledge or talk about because of the shame and stigma that often surrounds traumatic events like: trans-generational abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. There can be a lot of reasons to put off addressing your trauma and pursuing the healing that you deserve, but if you don’t face your past, you risk being held hostage by it.
Your deepest pain, your biggest fears—all the struggles you’ve gone through-has forever changed you.
Your history is the summary of your life experiences, from which you learn and grow. It's only human to make mistakes but we have a choice to suffer or heal from life's negative experiences.
Acknowledge the person you have become throughout a journey filled with joy and sadness.
The ability to have the true essence of one’s own resiliency cannot be realized until one goes through a major life event. No one has a perfect life. We all have experienced some type of event that has left us feeling broken.
